Humans

raceDraft

Majority people of Lumeria, of unaltered essence, against whom the other races are measured.

Appearance and traits

The ordinary human is the measure of the other peoples: of middling height, middling bone and flesh, with no feature that singles them out. What changes is the family. Skin runs from the pale of those who live in the cold lands to the brown of those who work under the sun of Cirda. Hair is mostly brown, with straw-blond and black, and eyes follow the same spread. Each district has its family likenesses, and none holds for the whole people.

Trade marks the body more than blood does. The farmer has a weathered back and cracked hands, the docker broad shoulders, the scribe short sight. A human of thirty already carries the time spent outdoors on the face. They live about seventy years.

Their essence is the one the world gives at birth. A small minority is born gifted, and the gift does not pass from parents to children with any certainty. What is known is what happens when a human has children with someone of altered essence: the child is born human, with a few marks on the skin as the only reminder of the other blood.

Society and culture

They are the majority in Felgrum and in Cirda, and almost all the cities and villages are theirs. They speak Vespertine, the language of the court and of the laws of the Kingdom of Vesperia. They live from the land, from trade and from crafts, under the crown in Felgrum and largely by their own rule in Cirda.

Relations with other peoples

Humans live alongside the Hesmerites, who are scattered among them, and mixed marriages are common. With the Drocani contact is rarer: they live in the Dawn Range, and only a few come down to the cities.
