Mount Oruco
Volcano at the northern end of the Dawn Range, above the northern coast of Felgrum.
Description
Mount Oruco is the highest summit of the range and the only one that smokes. Its cone of dark rock rises alone, above the other peaks, facing the northern sea. A column of gray smoke rises from the crater and can be seen from the farmland when the sky is clear. Two lava flows run down its slopes, glowing red at night. Nothing grows on the black rock.
From Albar, east of the range, the glow of the crater can be seen on clear nights. No one lives on its slopes.
Pilgrimage
For the Drocani it is a sacred place. They say the ancient dragons went there to die and that their essence, seeping through the rock, turned the mountain into a volcano. No one has confirmed that cause or denied it.
Every Drocani climbs Oruco at least once in a lifetime. They spend several days and nights sheltered in the rock, without food or drink, to purify their essence and offer their prayers to the ancient draconic essence. The path starts from Ardal, the nearest village, at the foot of the range.
